About Grill Guards

In a word, looks! Also known as brush guards or push bars, these tubular masterpieces add a rugged appearance to any truck or SUV. The first grill guards were put together by hunters and ranchers to keep the brush from scratching up the front of their trucks...hence the name "brush guards". Since then, the push bar has become less focused on function than on looks.

Do Brush Guards Interfere with Air Bag Deployment?

Forward deceleration of approximately 40-50 Gs triggers sensors that deploy the air bag. Since the sensors work on deceleration and are normally located "under the hood", adding reinforced bumpers or grill guards should not interfere with air bag systems. We suggest you check the vehicles service manual for sensor location to make sure that user added equipment does not interfere with a sensor.
